Space Cadets Radio
Brand Identity, Design, and Creative Collaboration
-
Space Cadets Radio started as a creative partnership with no existing product, no budget, and no established audience — just an idea for a space noir radio drama and the original fiction built around it. Before there was a single episode of Space Cadets Radio to point to, there needed to be a brand: a logo, a visual identity, and a style guide flexible enough to carry the studio across whatever it would eventually produce.
The constraints were real — this was independent, self-funded creative work, built around evenings and weekends alongside a full-time design career. The brand had to do a lot with very little, and it had to be built before the thing it represented was fully formed.

I was the brand designer for Space Cadets Radio from the beginning, creating the studio's foundational identity — logo, visual style guide, and poster designs — and have continued developing the brand's marketing and social presence as the studio has grown.
Designed the studio's original logo and core visual identity, establishing a visual language before any content existed to test it against
Built a flexible style guide capable of stretching across future, not-yet-defined projects — radio drama, prose fiction, and whatever the studio took on next
Designed poster art for Space Cadets Radio, translating the tone of a space noir audio drama into static visual storytelling
Designed and maintain the Space Cadets Radio website
Created ongoing marketing and social media materials to support the launch and continued release of new seasons and stories
-
The brand has remained consistent and recognizable across everything Space Cadets Radio has produced — including two full seasons of the audio drama and accompanying original fiction — while continuing to evolve as the studio takes on new creative directions. It stands as a real-world example of building and sustaining a brand identity independently, from first concept through ongoing growth, without the resources of a traditional studio.
